What to expect/FAQs

WHAT TO EXPECT

Thanks for visiting our website. Please enjoy your time here, click around to learn more about our ministry and what we believe, read through the Frequently Asked Questions below, listen to a message or two from our Pastor, Dr. James S.A. Long Jr., and let us know if you have any further questions.

We invite you to experience True Faith Baptist in person. We know that looking for a new church can be intimidating, so whether you’ve grown up in church, never been to church, or are coming back to church, our desire is that you feel welcomed and accepted. We look forward to meeting you and your family.

What kind of church is True Faith Baptist?

We believe in being led by the Holy Spirit. We are a Christian church in which our congregation independently and autonomously runs its own affairs. Our members are invited to join us in advancing the Kingdom of God through sound biblical teaching, discipleship, and ministry outreach.

What time and how long are your Sunday services?

Our worship service is at 10:30am. The service offers a mix of contemporary and traditional music, a relevant message, a welcoming, loving atmosphere, and friendly people who are eager to meet you and connect with you.

Our Services are last between 1-2 hours. We are firm believers that there are two people you can't lie to nor can you rush. And that is the Doctor and the Man Of God. We recommend arriving about 15 minutes before the service to allow time for parking and seating.

What is your worship like?

Worship through music is key but the Word of God is our priority at True Faith Baptist Church. We believe our praise and devotion usher in the Holy Spirit. Our praise team and choir sings worship music with a praise band. Our gifted musicians and singers enjoy worshipping as they allow the Holy Spirit to flow through them.

We are excited to use our anointed time of praise and worship as an avenue to worship God. We want everyone who comes through the door to experience the life changing power of worship through music, according to Psalm 100:1-4.

What should I wear?

There is no dress code at our church.  Many people dress up, and just as many come dressed casually. Your comfort may be traditional church attire, jeans and sneakers or business casual. Come as you are!  Matthew 11:28-30

Will I be asked to give an offering?

As a guest, you are welcome but not expected to make an offering. The Tithes and Offerings portion of our service is a time of celebration at True Faith. Our members are excited to give as part of their commitment to God and the church, according to Luke 6:38.

As a visitor, will I have to say anything or be singled out?

At True Faith we don't take your visit lightly. We are honored that out of all the places you could have attended, you chose to hear a Word with us. As our way of welcoming you, we do ask all of our first time visitors to stand with our congregation so that we may greet you. Pastor Long may ask your name but you are not forced to say anything. We do not want you to do anything that would make you feel uncomfortable. Luke 19:34.

Will I have a chance to meet the Pastor?

Pastor Long looks forward to meeting visitors and spending time with members after each service. He is usually available to greet visitors and friends, as well as speak with those who have questions about the church or the message of the morning.

Who attends True Faith Baptist Church?

Our members and visitors are young and old, single and married, with and without children. The majority of our members are families with children and teenagers, but there are also those who are young married couples, and singles of all ages.

CHURCH FAQ

Why is church membership important?

You do not have to join a church to become a Christian. However, being part of a church family will help you grow as a Christian. Although we are saved individually, God calls us to be part of a family of believers, not only for ourselves, but also for others. To be uninterested in the spiritual welfare of others contradicts the very nature of the Christian faith. In addition, you will find that being part of a community of faith enriches your life in many other ways.

What do I need to do to join TFBC?

  • Trust Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord.

  • Experience believer’s baptism.

  • Join during the invitation portion of a Sunday worship service or visit with a staff member about joining.

How does the church pay for the ministries, programs, & building?

Our tithes, offerings, and other voluntary gifts pay for all the ministry activities of TFBC. Every member is expected to contribute tithes and offerings.

All giving is voluntary and no amount is ever assigned, but we do expect our members to strive to be good stewards by giving 10% of their income to the ministry budget of the church.

Why does TFBC practice baptism by immersion?

Being baptized does not make you a Christian; it is an act of obedience. If a person has not accepted Jesus Christ as Savior, baptism is a meaningless ritual. But for the person who has begun a new life in Christ, baptism is a witness to what Jesus has done. Baptism is the reenactment of the burial and resurrection of Jesus.

When a person is placed under the water during baptism, it is a picture of Jesus being buried for our sins and our dying to an old way of life. When the person being baptized is pulled up from the water, it symbolizes Jesus being resurrected from the grave and the beginning of a new life. Baptism is also a picture of our future.

All of us will die and be buried; but as Christians, we will be raised from the grave to be with Christ in heaven. Baptism is a way we give witness to the work of Jesus in us.

What are my responsibilities as an TFBC member?

  • Attend and participate in weekly Bible study and worship.

  • Use your natural talents and spiritual gifts to serve God.

  • Seek to do the will of God in your daily life.

  • Give to the ministry budget of the church through tithes and offerings.

  • Encourage others to participate in the ministries of the church.

  • Invite others to accept Christ as Savior and Lord.
